Bring out the nerds....and the snow
Friday night, me and some friends let our inner nerds shine and danced the night away at the "Revenge of the Nerds" dance...off campus, might I add. Scandalous!! ;)
We went on a hunt to the two finest shopping establishments in Rexburg for some accessories to finalize the nerd look: The D.I. for ties and Dollar Tree for glasses and glow sticks. (But really though..we don't even have a mall. Walmart is where everyone buys clothes. Livin' the dream!!)
I'd say we were pretty successful, and the fact that I actually own high waters came in handy. Embarrassing or awesome??? I'm thinking awesome.
L to R: Shannon, Haley (roommate), me and Kaylee
Then Saturday night, we had to get out of Rexburg, so we drove down to IF for Red Robin and some shopping at the mall. Little did we know, while we were inside it was snowing like crazy outside! We went out in the parking lot, had a snowball fight, brushed the snow off my car and took lots of pictures! (Kaylee and Shannon were visiting from Cali and were super excited to experience a winter wonderland) I absolutely love when it snows, it makes everything looks so fresh, clean and beautiful! And it hasn't nearly enough this Winter, so I was pretty excited too!
^^Picnik may or may not be shutting down....so I may or may not be editing/brightening my eyes/airbrushing my face on every picture I take of me until April......okay, yep that's what I'm doing.
And why yes, we took photo booth pics at the mall..and the result of that is currently being sported on our fridge
Yesterday was SUCH a beautiful Sunday, a littleeee too cold for my liking, but the freshly fallen snow was too pretty to pass up a little adventure. (side note: Dear Rexburg, PLEASE snow more!!!) So me and Haley decided to drive up past the temple into this huge field. We drove up this un-plowed, icy road and feared for our lives as we attempted driving back down it. But we were safe, and the pictures we took were worth it!

Writer's Block.
I have been staring at this blank post for the past few days. Okay, more like the past week. For some reason, I feel like I have nothing to write about. I type, and then delete..and then type some more, and end up deleting that too. It's just been a long cycle of writing nonsense. Lately I'm just lacking the motivation to do anything, and I really need to get out of this weird funk. During the day, things happen and I think "I have to blog about this!" but then life gets in the way, and even though I'm not THAT busy, I feel like I never have time to do anything! My day consists of waking up, going to classes with small breaks in between. I'm finally home by 5:00, then I rest and start my homework. I honestly don't know what I do from 5 to midnight. Sometimes I have tons of homework, I make dinner, go to the grocery store, do laundry, go work out at the gym, talk to my roommates, waste time on the internet or netflix, etc. I really need to get there and start meeting more people! I do everything with Brooke or Haley, and I'm not making time for others. Maybe I should start going to the library or the Crossroads, or...something! Anyway, sorry about this lame post. I really need to get back in the habit of blogging, because I KNOW I'll appreciate and cherish the memories some day. But for now, here's some random photos from my phone for somewhat of an update..I mean, pictures are worth a thousand words, right??

first week of college according to my iphone
Getting settled in my new dorm//saying goodbye to mama//falling in "lust" with my awesome english professor//finding out I have math with my roommate and book of mormon with my best friend//roommate sharing her german pancakes for breakfast//Haley's parents treating us to Wingers on their final night here//reuniting with the old roommates at Nielsen's for burgers//several Walmart runs//Christmas lights still spreading Christmas cheer on Main Street//never getting lost on campus//apt 419 cooking dinner together//seeing my mom, Stephen and Rachel in Idaho Falls//Texas Roadhouse, Cocoa Bean and seeing Sherlock Holmes with the fam//going to church in a new ward//making a successful Sunday pot roast :)
Not so fun:: getting sick within a few days of being here and loading up on drugs//hearing that my mom had to go to the emergency room//trying to accept the fact that I now live in the freaking tundra//saying goodbye (again) to my mom//the ridiculous amount of homework I have to do by tomorrow..
I'd say the pros outweigh the cons of the week.

It's that time of year again
where I'm finally going..
Today was/is my first day of school! Yay for a new semester and a new year! Time to start fresh (again) and make the most of my freshman year here at BYU Idaho. If you know me at all, you would know school is not really my thing. In high school, I would do anything to not go to school. I pretty much went in late every day..I think I had like 18 absences one semester in my first period. Wowza! (And here I am, wanting to be a high school teacher...ironic) But for some odd reason, I am SO excited to start taking classes again. I'm ready to learn. I'm ready to study. I'm ready to have homework again. I'm ready to further my education and move forward with my life. (Woah, did I really just write all that? Something is obviously very wrong with me.) Talk to me in a month and I'm sure my opinion will have changed. But seriously..I'm excited to be here. I love going to school here and embracing the "spirit of Ricks". The atmosphere is uplifting, the people are kind, the professors actually care and this place has a positive effect on me. Bring it on Winter 2012!!!!!
For your viewing pleasure, I've included two of my favorite "back to school" videos..enjoy.
"First day of school, and the girls are watching. The girls are watching!" Hahaha classic. I would KILL my brother if he ever did something like that. But it's hilarious when it's someone else. Naturally. I hope everyone has a wonderful first week back for a new semesterl!

Should'a been a model
So we sorta have this tradition of taking group pictures outside in the church parking lot after major events and pretending like we're models. "Major events" include days where we would come to church dressed in the same color scheme, after seminary graduations, on holidays, etc. Well actually, we just like to take pictures together wherever we are, but the church parking lot seems to be a popular place. Therefore, Sunday seemed like the perfect time to have a photo shoot after sacrament, because who knows the next we'll all be together again! (p.s. we missed you Emily and Danielle!)

My week at home
My parents bought me plane tickets to Tampa for a week, and it was hands down the best gift I received this year. I was counting down the days to this trip (literally) and being home and seeing my friends was exactly what I needed. I was surprised by eight of my very best friends at the airport Christmas night around midnight, greeting me with cheers and hugs..I seriously have the best friends and I am so grateful for them! I claim the week a success and it was extremely hard to leave..but unfortunately all good things come to an end, right? Events included endless sleepovers, reindeer mounting, catching up with friends and their families, french braiding by Taylor, Tarpon Springs & Hellas bakery, late night chats, seeing New Years Eve with Savannah, shopping, fish tacos from Frenchy's grill on Clearwater, CPK for Sam's birthday, more shopping, Orlando for the Magic game, reuniting with old yearbook friends, meeting the most ADORABLE baby for the first time and also catching up with the baby mama ;), dinner with the Thompson fam, playing card games, adding more to the time capsule that will never ever be buried, Publix subs, Indian Rocks beach, jam sessions in the car, ringing in the new year with my two very best friends (and some others), church in the Odessa ward, photo shoot in the parking lot just like the good ole days and the annual crepe fest breakfast at the Gillries house. There aren't pictures of everything, because I tried to really enjoy my time instead of worrying about capturing the perfect photo. But here's a little glimpse of my wonderful week at home!
Is it too soon to say that I can't wait to go back???
***Also, a HUGE shout out to Samantha Brooke for always having her fancy, new camera with us and taking all of the above pictures :) MUCH appreciated.
