And now it's back to Rexburg tomorrow for Spring semester which starts Tuesday. Not too excited, especially considering this is how I left it.....

General Conference Weekend Recap

Ahhh, I am SO late blogging this! General Conference ALWAYS rolls around exactly when I need to hear the inspired words of the leaders of the church. I was looking forward to conference so much and I sincerely enjoyed every talk. It gave me the extra motivation that I needed to get through finals week and was an answer to my prayers. Saturday, my roommates and I gathered wrapped up in blankets in the family room to watch it on t.v. We cuddled and listened. Between sessions we made a huge breakfast, complete with cinnamon rolls, sausage, eggs, hash browns and juice. After the second session, we got ready for the day (yes, it was like 4:30) and went to Wally World to buy 40 fish to put in our friends' bathtub while they were all at the Priesthood session of conference that evening. While they were gone, we snuck into their apartment, which required Jessica to take the screen off and climb in through the window. We successfully got in and filled their tub up with water and 40 fish. Muahaha..they had been saying all week they had the "ultimate girl prank" so we decided to get them first, in honor of April Fools Day being the next day :) It was fun, and the thrill of sneaking in was defff the best part.

Anyway, these are just a few of my favorite quotes that I wrote down. Basically, I just do this for me so I can have all my favorite notes all in one place :)

{Saturday Highlights}
-"Although we're gathered from around the world, we come together as one- one faith, one doctrine and one purpose"- President Thomas S. Monson
-"No pain will last forever"- Boyd K. Packer
-"One of the great discoveries of parenthood is that we learn far more about what really matters from our children than we ever did from our parents"- Boyd K. Packer
-"The Lord sees you and the sacrifices you make"- Dallin H. Oaks
-"Acting on even a twig of faith, allows God to grow it"- Henry B. Eyring
-"If the foundation of faith is not embedded in our hearts, the power to endure will crumble"- Henry B. Eyring
-We are NEVER alone. We can feel the love of God. The Savior has promised us angels on our left and right, and He ALWAYS keeps His word."- Henry B. Eyring
-"We are not diminished when someone else is added upon"- Jeffrey R. Holland
-Coveting, pouting or tearing others down does not elevate your standing. Nor does demeaning someone else improve your self image." -Jeffrey R. Holland
-Be kind and grateful God is kind. It is a happy way to live."-Jeffrey R. Holland
-Don't hyperventilate about something that happened at 9 o'clock in the morning when the grace of God is trying to reward you at 6 o'clock in the evening. Even if a grievance didn't begin with you, it can end with you."- Jeffrey R. Holland
-"However late you think you are, how many chances you think you've missed, how many mistakes you think you've made, talents you think you don't have, how far away from home you are..you have not traveled beyond the reach of His divine love. It is not possible for you to sink lower than the infinite light Christ's atonement shines."- Jeffrey R. Holland
-If you've made covenants, keep them. If you haven't made them, make them. If you've made them and broken them, repent and repair them."-Jeffrey R. Holland
-"Don't delay. It's getting late."-Jeffrey R. Holland
-He knows us, and waits for us even when we're a great way off"- Robert D. Hales
-"You can't be right by doing wrong, and you can't be wrong by doing right"- Ulisses Soares
"Be in tune with the sacred music of faith"- Quentin L. Cook

**I think it's obvious that Holland is one of my favorite apostles. I LOVED his talk!

Sunday we rolled out of bed at 9:59 (it starts at 10) to listen to the first session. President Uchtdorf's and President Monson's were probably my two favorites talks. They're incredible and so in tune with the spirit! Some boys came over later to hear the second session and we had gotten sandwich stuff, chips and dip and soda for lunch. It's always funny when they come over..they kept us laughing the whole time!

{Sunday Highlights}
-"Those who pass judgement on others is inexcusable. The moment we pass judgement on others, we condemn ourselves"- Dieter F. Uchtdorf
-Bumper sticker: "Don't judge me because I sin differently than you"- Dieter F. Uchtdorf
-"Do you harbor grudge against someone else? Do you gossip, even if what you're saying might be true? Do you exclude or push away others because of something they've done? Do you secretly envy someone? Do you wish to harm anyone? If any of these apply to you, STOP IT"- Dieter F. Uchtdorf
-"Lay your burden at the Savior's feet. Allow Christ's atonement to change your heart"- Dieter F. Uchtdorf
-"If you come upon a person who is drowning, would you ask if he needs help, or would it be better to just jump in and save him from the deepening waters? The offer, whilst well-meaning and often given, 'let me know if I can help?' is really no help at all- Ronald A. Rasband
-"There are many sisters living in rags-spiritual rags. They deserve robes. It is your privilege to go into homes and trade rags for robes."- Julie B. Beck
-"We are not to float with the moving currents of life, but to use our power to think, to reason and to achieve"- President Monson
-"We have been provided divine attributes to help us on life's journey. Our Heavenly Father did not launch us on our eternal voyage without the means to help us. He's provided guidance to ensure our safe return"- President Monson
-"Death is not the end. When Christ was resurrected, his spirit was clothed with a glorified body of flesh and bones. He was risen, and we shall all be too"- President Monson
-"The master speaks to all: Come back. Come up. Come in. Come home. Come unto me."-President Monson
-"If we devote ourselves to our families, we'll improve in every other aspect in our lives"- M. Russell Ballard
-What thinks Christ of me? Love Him, trust Him, and follow Him, you will feel His love and approval"- Neil L. Anderson

Like I said before, general conference couldn't have come at a more perfect time. Funny how that works. I love the speakers, the music, the spirit that's felt and the inspiration that is received. I already can't wait until October for the next one! Also, the MoTab's version of "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing"??? Ummm, my fave!
^^^A little glimpse of what conference was like in Apt. 419 :) Not too exciting. Pay special attention to Haley's face toward the end of the video. Hahhahahaah (I promise, listening really did take place. This was the end and we were getting restless!)

Anyway, I'm grateful the members of our church all around the world have the opportunity to join together and listen to the words of our prophet, his counselors and other church leaders. I'm grateful for the unity my church has and for the love I feel from all of the general authorities and I'm especially grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Also...highlight of this weekend's conference?? The missionary choir that sang during one of the sessions, and seeing David Archuleta on the big screen. You wear that name tag well Elder... ;)
